''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

Do you want to work for an organisation who has just received an overall rating of GOOD from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with a rating of OUTSTANDING in care?

We are inviting applications from suitably experienced doctors who are seeking a career development opportunity as a Trust Associate Specialist in Emergency Medicine. We would also consider applications from doctors who do not yet meet the specifications for Associate Specialist but could initially undertake a speciality grade position while being supported and developed to achieve the required skill set.

The post is based at Furness General Hospital and represents career development opportunity for clinicians with imagination, drive and commitment to develop Emergency Medicine whilst working with the current team to develop integrated services as part of the Better Care Together Project. We will consider applications from specialty grade doctors and support them in a developmental role to achieve the Trust Associate Specialist grade.

As a Senior Doctor working in the Emergency Department you will be expected to deliver high quality emergency care and to be responsible, along with Emergency Department (ED) Senior colleagues, for the reception, resuscitation, diagnosis and emergency treatment of patients attending the ED. You will supervise the appropriate referral of patients Non-ED specialist teams (within the Trust or tertiary referral where necessary) General Practice and other community–based services.

Furness General Hospital has recently been given the prestigious Vanguard Status to develop care in an integrated model across primary and secondary care in our local area. We have a strong focus upon team working and the development of excellent working relationships across all our departments. We believe that we provide a friendly, supportive and effective working environment.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deanery and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.
