''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has been nationally recognised as the UK’s most inclusive NHS organisation. As such we have a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.

Do you consider caring with compassion to be fundamental to your role?

Looking for a new career path in one of the most picturesque parts of the country? Are you a student looking to take up your first post or qualified nurse looking for a new challenge? Then Morecambe Bay is just the place for you, offering the beautiful Lake District on your doorstep.

Our Trust is recruiting enthusiastic, highly motivated nurses to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward thinking professional team which serves a wide geographical area with rural and urban communities.

You will be reliable, flexible, motivated, have excellent clinical skills, a commitment to ongoing learning and development, a commitment to delivering high quality care, and be willing and open to embracing positive change and transformation in order to meet the demands of the community we serve.

If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you!

The services we provide:

Children’s Inpatient, Day Care, Assessment and Outpatients.

Our Children’s inpatient services provide compassionate care for Children and Young People from 0 to 16 years of age across two busy sites, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital. The units provide care for a mixture of specialities and for a wide range of conditions including High Dependency Care.

The units encompass inpatient, day care and assessment services for our communities. We also have dedicated Children’s Out-Patient departments on both sites. This ensures a rich variety of experiences and development for our staff.

Development Opportunities

Here at Morecambe Bay we are not only committed to supporting our employees in mandatory training requirements but also professional development in your Children’s nursing career. We offer the following (not an exhaustive list):

- Preceptorship Package
- Supported development in tertiary centres
- Various in-house leadership programmes
- PLS and opportunity to complete EPLS
- Support from Practice Development Team

We use E-Rostering which offers many benefits to our employees and allows a more accessible Off Duty and easier requests system, making annual leave requests, possible from the comfort of your own home.

Within the Children and Young Peoples Department we can predict that our quietest periods are traditionally during the warmer months, with peaks in winter months. With this in mind we are developing annualised hours agreements which would allow individuals to take more annual leave during the summer months.

Anyone newly appointed to the Trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
