As a combined Acute and Community Trust, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) is enjoying greater integration working with colleagues across different sectors within the footprint of Morecambe Bay.

Our approach to stroke services will require a degree of flexibility as well as creative thinking to establish and form new pathways of care. You will be providing care across the pathway within the acute and community settings.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Working together to deliver care to patients you will need to: 

  • Work as a trained Assistant Practitioner within the NHS with a desire to develop your clinical skills further 
  • Training through the apprenticeship scheme will be provided for those not currently qualified at Assistant Practitioner level. 
  • Demonstrate and evidence your own professional development 
  • Demonstrate your ability to work independently when necessary 

Please Note:

This is a 2 year programme under Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and conditions which is:

 •       Year 1 – 70% of the top of a Band 4
 •       Year 2 – 75% of the top of a Band 4
 •       leading to Band 4 upon completion of academic study and accreditation

Essential criteria
  • experience of working in an acute or community setting with stroke patients.
  • Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths/English
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of AHP/Nursing core skills
