Job overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in the Estates department at Furness General Hospital.

You should be experienced, time served and suitably qualified in plumbing maintenance, fault finding, and repairs.

Main duties of the job



You should also be proficient in small scale installation work on plumbing services, plant and equipment at the Hospital and other local health care premises.




Working for our organisation

Flexible working will be required where you will assist other trades and undertake other tasks to maintain the building services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full apprenticeship or equivalent approved training.
  • NVQ3, BTEC or Equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to undertake further relevant training
  • Driving licence (B)
  • Certificate in Water Hygiene (Skilled Person WH1)
Desirable criteria
  • City and Guild qualifications in relevant subjects.
  • Certificate in Ventilation Safety (CP – HTM03)
  • Certificate in Hot & Cold Water Systems (BS2/H)
  • Certificate in Disinfection of Water Supplies (WN18)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of hospital systems and equipment, policies and procedures especially HTM’s and relevant DoH guidance.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience and use of computerised building management systems and facilities management systems

Skills, ability & knowledge

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with other members of the department, other (non technical) Trust staff, patients, visitors, public utilities and emergency services as required.
  • Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially.
