The matron is managerially responsible to and accountable to the
Deputy Head of Midwifery. Appraisal will be undertaken by the
Deputy Head of Midwifery.
The matron will, in partnership with the Clinical Lead and Service
Manager (service triumvirate), lead improvement in care, service
delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities within the
division.
The post-holder will deputise for the Deputy Head of
Midwifery as required.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
The matron has overall responsibility for the delivery of safe,
clinically and cost effective, compassionate midwifery care within the
service and provides assurance evidence regarding compliance
against all appropriate professional, organisational and national
compliance standards.
