Substantive - Care of the Elderly Consultant

Application for this substantive post will only be accepted if you are in the process of obtaining your CCT/CSER within six months of interview.

Based at  Furness General Hospital

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious, dynamic individual to join our committed and well integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high standard care to the local community. This will be a full-time, substantive post (10 Programmed Activities).

Those with sub-specialty training in stroke medicine will be encouraged to apply.

Applicants are encouraged to clearly exhibit how they meet our criteria in their applications.

The trust is committed to negotiating a suitable relocation package and we can discuss your individual needs on application.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic physician to join the Care of the Elderly Team at Furness General Hospital. The team provides acute and rehabilitative stroke care including thrombolysis and assessment for thrombectomy, front door frailty assessments, orthogeriatric input, community and day hospital support as well as participation in the general medical take, ongoing care and new and follow up outpatient clinics.

The successful candidate would be supported to participate in all of the above or choose a specialist area to develop alongside the rest of the team. All areas are currently developing with the expectation of a mini HASU for acute and ambulatory stroke care, development of ambulatory model for frail elderly assessments, reconfiguration of outpatients following covid and extension of care into community settings with monthly community MDTs. There is scope for further development depending on personal interest and service need and the trust is supportive of such development.

This is a full time (10PA) post incorporating on call and personal SPA time.
