''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

 Band 5  Community Respiratory Physiotherapist

As a recently combined Acute and Community Trust, Morecambe Bay Hospitals Foundation Trust is enjoying greater integration working with colleagues across difference sectors within the footprint of Morecambe Bay. Not only does this provide improved ways of working within the multi-disciplinary context, it enables you to be involved in the exciting journey ahead for providing transformational care within Morecambe Bay.

Our Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network has just received significant investment in further supporting a collaborative approach to providing respiratory services across the Bay. Our aim is to provide Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Rapid Response services within a community location, rather than the traditional acute environment, which supports our service users with care closer to home. These newly-established ways of working will require a degree of flexibility as well creative thinking to establish and form new pathways of care.

Working together to deliver care to patients you will need to:

  • have experience of working as a Chartered Physiotherapist within the NHS with a desire to develop your clinical skills further.
  • demonstrate and evidence your own professional development.
  • demonstrate your ability to work independently when necessary.
  • have a friendly and flexible attitude, which is patient focused and dedicated to quality care.
  • use your expertise to supervise and teach students and other staff within the service.

We are a multi-disciplinary team who would welcome you to join us. As well as being the country’s 7th most inclusive employer, work life balance is made easier with our location; right next door to the beautiful Lake District, where you can enjoy outdoor recreational activities, as well as being close to the bustling city of Manchester.

If this sounds like an opportunity you don’t want to miss and you want to work for a Trust which:

  • values inclusivity.
  • invests in you with ongoing in-service training, development and supervision from expertly trained clinical specialists.
  • is at the start of a transformational journey where collaboration between sector partners is core business.
  • values and invests in YOU.

Then why not come and see what UHMBT has to offer? In return we will offer you:

  • A supportive team environment which values the input of the team
  • A structured two-way appraisal process to support your ongoing development
  • In-house recognition schemes
  • A focus on employee involvement where your contribution is valued
  • Encouragement for your professional development
  • A relocation package for prospective applicants living more than 60 miles away
  • Opportunity to be part of our transformational programme of combining acute and community services
  • Excellent location of our sites near the Lake District to support a healthy work life balance

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

We would love to hear from you if you are a physiotherapist who is looking for a long term career in respiratory physiotherapy within the Furness area. You should have a passion for respiratory physiotherapy and be enthusiastic about delivering respiratory care in the community.

The role will be focussed around the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation, management of cough, secretions and breathlessness, as well as delivering patient education in the clinic, group and home settings.

We are a small, friendly, multidisciplinary team comprised of physiotherapy, nursing and support staff, and we are passionate about improving the quality of life for those who live with a chronic lung disease.

You should be passionate about delivering high quality respiratory care for patients; be able to work closely in a team, and value the role of other clinical and non-clinical colleagues. Being a team player is essential in this post.

If successful for the post you will receive comprehensive support from the whole team in your new role, as well as clinical supervision from our specialist respiratory physiotherapists to help you to develop your knowledge and skills within this role.
