''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

Do you want to work for an organisation who has just received an overall rating of GOOD from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with a rating of OUTSTANDING in care?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Community based MSK Out-patient team. The post involves assessment and treatment of a mixed caseload, predominantly GP referral.

The post offers experience working at Abbey Road Clinic Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton Clinic, Millom Community Hospital where you will gain experience in running MSK education classes and rehabilitation groups alongside experienced staff. Therefore you must have the ability to work and travel to various sites within the Furness Locality. The team will be moving in to a new purpose built Health Centre in Barrow and Millom, having fully equipped clinical areas and gym facilities and opportunity to work closely with GPs and other health staff.

We are looking for:

  • A Physiotherapist who has completed a range of core rotations within the NHS as a junior physiotherapist,   including   experience in musculoskeletal out-patients and who is keen to develop their clinical skills further.
  • A motivated individual who can demonstrate evidence of their own professional development.
  • A Team player who can also work independently when necessary.
  • A friendly and flexible attitude, that is patient focused and dedicated to quality care.

The Physiotherapy Service has a well-developed appraisal system, regular in-service training programme; access to regular clinical supervision provided by senior staff trained in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection Therapy and actively encourages continuing professional development.

You will be expected to be involved in the supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students and other staff within the service.

Furness is a very popular area on the coast and very close to the Lake District National Park which offers a wide range of outdoor activities. The area has miles of wild and diverse coastline to explore with views of Morecambe Bay and of the nearby Lakeland fells.

Barrow-in-Furness is one of the biggest towns in Cumbria, Submarine building and Pharmaceuticals are major employers in the area. The surrounding area is popular with tourism and is a lovely place to bring up a family. The nearby historic market town of Ulverston is popular for its festivals and Kendal and the motorway are only 45-50 minutes away.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
