The post holder is required to provide medical care to patients requiring assessment, advice, treatment for patients attending KUTC with minor illness and injury, and also for providing medical assessment and management for patient’s referred by their GP for admission to the Langdale unit at Kendal. The successful candidate will work along- side GP’s , Nurse Practitioners, Nursing staff and members of the Multi – Disciplinary Team to provide safe and effective medical care , with an emphasis on admission avoidance.

KUTC is a GP led service open between 8am – 11 pm 365 days of the Year. Unit sees approximately 20,000 patients per annum. These patients present with minor illness and injury.

This post offers candidates the unique opportunity to contribute to the further development of the service. Flexible working patterns are seen as essential to the ability of the Department to provide an optimal emergency service responsive to a changing NHS.

The post is based at Westmorland General Hospital which is part of University Hospital of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
