''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

Band 5 physiotherapist job advert – post TUPE 1.10.18

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Therapy and Rehabilitation Services within North Lancashire and serving the local population.

We are a large team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Technical Instructors and admin staff, providing an integrated therapy service.

In partnership with therapy services within the local acute hospital - the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, as well as rotating within the different areas of community service, there will be the opportunity to rotate within the different clinical areas of surgery, medicine, orthopaedics, out-patients MSK, elderly rehabilitation.  This will enable staff to gain a broader experience and increased knowledge in the different areas of clinical specialty.

Therapy services in the community are currently aligning to the Integrated Care Community structure, supporting the health needs of the local population, registered to a GP practice, thus enhancing multi-disciplinary team working.

Within the community setting, we see a wide variety of conditions including neurology, orthopaedic, amputees, falls and mobility. The team has a wide knowledge base, providing a good level of in-service training, CPD and regular clinical supervision support. This service provides adult general community therapy and rehabilitation through physiotherapy and occupational therapy assessment, including falls prevention and risk management. Patients are seen in their own homes and also in residential care and residential intermediate care settings.

Working in partnership with colleagues from Lancashire County Council, we  have a 22 intermediate care bedded unit at Dolphinlee House in Lancaster incorporating 10 dementia rehabilitation beds and 12 general rehabilitation beds.   The units accept patients who step up from the community and step down from the hospital. The staff work as a multidisciplinary team and work to support patient flow across the health economy.

Therapy services based in the community, in-reach into Dolphinlee House, to progress clients through their rehabilitation journey and support the transfer of care into the community setting, when clients have ongoing therapy needs.

This post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work within different, proactive multidisciplinary teams, in different clinical settings, with partners from health and social care.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic Physiotherapists who have a commitment to the post, good communication skills and the ability to work as an effective team member. You must have a genuine interest in people, with a proactive, positive, flexible approach.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
