Job overview

An exciting opportunity to work within the thriving Information, Informatics and Innovation (I3) department as an I3 Primary Care and Digital Specialist, leading on multiple initiatives and projects to develop the digital maturity and capability of Primary Care and CCG systems and staff.

The post holder will be an integral member of the I3 department whilst representing specific digital interests of Primary Care and Morecambe Bay CCG, coordinating contributions of I3 team resources in line with project requirements and escalating through I3, Primary Care and CCG governance structures as required.

The I3 service supports the wider Morecambe Bay health community providing support to Morecambe Bay CCG and 8 Primary Care Networks comprising of 32 GP Practices. There is a small team as part of the I3 service that provide digital support and digital project change management to the CCG and GP Practices.

The Morecambe Bay Primary Care & CCG Digital team works closely with a mixture of stakeholders including practices, local CCG’s, local Acute services, the local Integrated Care System and external suppliers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must be an excellent communicator with an established track record of delivering I3 projects and excited about the prospect of delivering new I3 projects intended to:

- Develop the digital maturity of CCG and primary care in line with NHS England Core GP IT and centrally mandated requirements.​

- Extend and enhance the recent rapid expansion of agile, digital capabilities across primary care aligned to COVID-19 and embed good practice for the future.​

- Optimise every Practices’ use of existing digital solutions and  to enhance the use of patient facing digital solutions.

- Support the CCG's transition from Microsoft Office 2010 & Windows 10 platforms.​

- Develop training and skills across primary care and embed the learning.​

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Possess a degree or equivalent experience directly related to the discipline of Health Informatics.
Desirable criteria
  • Qualified or trained in project management to a recognised level or methodology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working with digital clinical leads, adopting new IT systems or new ways of working.
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering digital solutions within the NHS.
  • Significant level of direct experience in Health Informatics and an understanding of the governance required to manage successful projects in an Informatics environment.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change within Bay Health & Care Partners specifically primary care or Morecambe Bay CCG.
  • Must achieve high standards of professional behaviour in dealing with clients and users at all times
  • Experience working with external 3rd parties, such as healthcare organisations including NHS for successful project delivery
  • Have a working knowledge of primary care networks, and integrated care communities
  • Strong written and oral skills, to support report writing, presenting and maintaining good relationships
  • Strong communication skills which allow the post holder to work effectively with a wide variety of personnel
  • Possess the ability to work with confidential information
  • Have the ability to assess situations and make judgments to arrive at the correct solution
