Job overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in the Estates department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

This is a fixed term post for 2 years 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry out all maintenance work at all premises within the Morecambe Bay Trust area.

This will involve working alongside other trade groups to provide an effective maintenance, repair and installation service which is responsive to user’s needs.

Undertake work appropriate to their core tradecraft skill.     

They will, however, progressively be trained to acquire elements of each other’s skills with the intention of reaching levels of multi trade flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply their ability where required. 

Working for our organisation

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment. 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

The post holder will carry out maintenance work within their core tradecraft in a safe environment and to a high quality on the full range of building fabric.

To work as part of a team or independently as dictated by the requirements of the project.

Actively participate in the operation of the Estates Backtraq (Management Information System) including completion of all paperwork and electronic  required by the scheme in a timely manner (including timesheets).

To erect scaffolds, ladders and working platforms and carry out the work as required, after training has been undertaken. Work off independent scaffolds and towers and similar access equipment.

To work will all types of paint systems, internally and externally including preservatives and protective coatings.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of work in an industrial organisation or similar
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of previous work in healthcare environment
  • Use facilities management systems.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full apprenticeship or equivalent approved training.
  • BTEC or Equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake further relevant training
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 or City and Guild qualifications in relevant subjects.
  • Computer Literate
  • Clean driving licence (B+E)

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially.
  • Ability to work as part of a team but must be able to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with other members of the department, other (non technical) Trust staff, patients, visitors, public utilities and emergency services as required.
