''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has been nationally recognised as the UK’s most inclusive NHS organisation. As such we have a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.

Job overview

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team. If you’re the type of health professional who truly has the patient at the heart of everything you do and you want to work in a Trust that shares your values and is going places, then this might just be the perfect role for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Physiotherapist, who is keen to develop quality services and best practice in chronic pain physiotherapy management working closely with the multidisciplinary team. We would welcome applicants with innovative and creative ideas, who will support the development of this service.  You will provide clinical leadership in chronic pain physiotherapy in an outpatient setting across the Royal Lancaster Infirmary & Queen Victoria Centre with responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the service provided on a day-to-day basis.

Main duties of the job

Ideally we require a Physiotherapist with experience in the management of chronic pain conditions, multidisciplinary working and have broad MSK experience and experience of service development. However, if you have an interest in chronic pain conditions and have a good MSK background, we would be happy to support your development in the role.  Candidates should also have outpatient experience assessing and triaging complex musculoskeletal patients and delivering appropriate evidence based treatment.

We are happy to consider applications from physiotherapists who wish to develop in to the role. Training will be supported by study leave and course funding for key modules related to chronic pain management.

The role will also include supporting the Team Manager in the management, organisation and development of Physiotherapy services. We operate flexible working and we are happy to discuss options for working the 18.75 hours.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Applications from job seekers who require sponsorship to work in the United Kingdom (UK) are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. Please note that from January 2021, to work in the UK all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship unless you have permission to work via another route.
