The post-holder is responsible for the operational / budgetary management and development of imaging services within their allocated site.
To manage the organisation and delivery of a wide range of imaging modalities, in order to provide the highest quality radiographic service within the resources available
To be a specialist in the field of Diagnostic Radiology and manage a department that covers a variety of procedures.
To manage the radiographic team in maintaining the highest possible standards of patient care and image quality
To be responsible for the provision of a full out of hours Radiology service.
To ensure that procedures are in place for monitoring and maintaining the quality of all images produced.
Responsible for managing all radiographic, clerical and support staff within the Radiology department and associated satellite units
To be an autonomous practitioner.
To monitor and audit the workload and staff to ensure a continuous and efficient service.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
