''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Secretary to work with the Stroke Therapy Team based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

We are a very friendly, highly motivated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and technical instructors. We work with stroke patients both in the hospital and at home following their stroke to regain the skills they have lost and become as independent as possible. The team secretary plays a vital role as the first point of contact for our community patients and in keeping the team running smoothly.

You will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the team. You will establish and maintain good communication links with the stroke therapists, the two stroke wards, the stroke association and other administrative staff.

We are looking for someone with good computer skills, who can can work accurately, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a willingness to learn. You will need to be flexible and have a positive proactive approach.

You will also need to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, be able to act on your own initiative, be able to prioritise your workload and work in an organised and effective manner. Experience of audit would also be an advantage.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
