Come and join our friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic department on the doorstep of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy a four day working week and 2.5 SPA on appointment, living in the most beautiful scenery England has to offer and enjoying affordable houses, fantastic state schools while only being 2½ hours from London, Glasgow or Edinburgh, and an hour from Manchester.
If you want to achieve a great work/life balance with a professionally satisfying job using new equipment while living in one of the safest, least congested and most beautiful parts of the country then come and check us out.
The Trust considers flexible working or extended days to deliver more flexible working patterns and provide a desirable work life balance. Remote reporting is available for on call and we are rolling out home reporting for elective work.
We are looking for a General Radiologist with a specialist interest – the sub speciality is flexible to fit in with the needs of the Trust and the applicant’s interests and we would rather appoint a strong applicant than having a particular requirement for any specific subspecialty.
We invite you to join an established team of 16 Radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Service for the population of North Lancashire and South Cumbria. We all contribute to the general workload of the department, including CT, US, MRI and plain film reporting and participate in the on call rota (1:16). We outsource on call work from 8 pm (weekdays) and 5 pm (weekend and Bank holidays) to provide a more palatable and sustainable working pattern.
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deanery and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.
We are a training site for Specialist Trainees in Radiology as part of the North West School of Radiology and the Trust provides the majority of clinical attachments for students at Lancaster Medical School. There are ample opportunities to be involved in teaching if you wish.
We have good administrative support, highly integrated voice recognition (Dragon 11 Medical with HSS CRIS) and have an active programme to refresh equipment. (Three new CT scanners, three new MR scanners and 16 new USS machines in the last four years). The PACS has been upgraded to a state of the art SECTRA system along with replacement of all the reporting monitors. A new SPECT CT system has been given approval at Furness General Hospital with plans for a similar replacement in nuclear medicine at the Lancaster site
