Do you have what it takes to deliver high standards of clinical care to patients in their own homes and within a ward setting? An exciting opportunity has arisen for dedicated and professional nurses to join our integrated nursing team here at Millom Community Hospital.

The post is integrated between the in-patient ward and the community District Nursing team. The successful candidates will work between the two departments on a rotation system and as sickness and holiday cover is required.

 Full support and induction is offered to the successful candidate along with continued professional development and the opportunity to further your clinical skills and knowledge. 

We ask in return that you have a high attention to detail, a willingness to learn and develop your skills, work well as a team as well as on your own  and are passionate about nursing and caring for patients. 

We have a variety of positions and working hours available.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities of this role include managing and delivering high standard nursing care and assessments to our ward in-patients along with providing highly skilled clinical interventions and assessments to patients living in their own homes. Support is offered for both departments and there are opportunities to extend your clinical skills and abilities in both areas to meet the needs of the patients.

Both the ward and the District nursing team have dedicated band 6 assistant team leads who will support your development in each area to enable you to carry out care to a high standard.

We welcome applications from any area of nursing practice who wish to learn new skills and work along side the teams in place here at Millom.

The successful candidates will become an employee of Morecambe bay NHS trust and would be expected to adhere to all Trust policies and procedure.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

  • V100/V150 NMP Prescriber
