Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Full time 37.5 hours Patient Environment Assistant {porter} .

This is a four week rota, over seven days.

2 x 8.30am 16:30pm Monday - Friday.

1x 7.00am - 15:00pm Monday - Friday.

1x 9.30am - 17:30 Monday - Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday.

Full drivers Licence is required for the role. 

We are looking to recruit a Patient Environment Assistant ( Porter) for our Team. You should be hard working, punctual and able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

 The aim of the role is to support the clinical teams in maintaining the optimum environment for our patients. The main duties are to support patient movement, removal and disposal of waste, handling of medical gases and collection and movement of patient meals. Cleaning will also be a requirement for this role.

 

 

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education/Qulaifications

Essential criteria
  • Driving Licence
  • Basic Numeracy and literacy skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ or BICS qualification in cleaning sciences or equivalent
  • Certificate in COSHH
  • Certificate in Health and Safety

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous operational manual handling experience
  • deal with internal and external communication using both verbal and written material
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of cleaning in a large setting or Health Care environment

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially
  • Deal with a diverse range of people face to face
Desirable criteria
  • Able to communicate within a team and provide feedback to colleagues and line managers

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Abitlity to travel between the Trust sites as required
  • Ability to have a flexible approach to work patterns when required

  • Deal with day to day workloads linked to hygiene procedures and able to follow written cleaning schedules
